Clay Schouest & Kevin Walsh, Carat

In two senior level changes at the agency, Carat has appointed Kevin Walsh as the Chief Digital Officer for its Asia Pacific operations. The agency has relocated Clay Schouest, Head of Strategy and Innovation from Shanghai to the head office in Singapore to better steer its strategy and innovation in the region.

“As our business grows, we need to look at what our clients need and to deliver on that. Digital is ever evolving. In order to be real innovators we need the talent to support that. Kevin has a vast amount of experience in digital having experienced firsthand the development of the digital media industry over the last decade. Clay is a pragmatic innovator, a creative mind with strategy at its core. I have no doubt that these two additions to the regional team here in Singapore will take great steps to redefine media and push the boundaries to create effective and innovative work for our clients,” said Sean O’Brien, CEO of Carat Asia Pacific.

Mr Walsh has been working in the media industry for over 20 years, focussing on digital since 2000. He spent 14 years in Australia, as Executive Media Director of agency NetX which won agency of the year five times during his tenure. He then went on to open Neo@Ogilvy in Sydney and Melbourne as Managing Director for the company. In 2010, he moved to iProspect and became Managing Director of Australia before being promoted to the role of Managing Director for Asia Pacific.

“Carat’s reputation for being digitally ahead is something that I’m keen to advance. With the point of engagement and the point of conversion becoming closer and closer, it’s an important time for brands to fully realise their digital ambition. I’m particularly excited about working closely with Clay to develop integrated solutions with digital at its core,” said Mr Walsh in a press statement.

Mr Schouest’s recent move to a central position in Singapore is done with the objective to support innovation and strengthen Carat’s approach to comms planning. Over the past 16 years, Mr Schouest has worked with marketers such as The Coca-Cola Company and Unilever supporting them on comms planning and strategic guidance.

“Relocating and joining the team here in Singapore is an exciting step for the agency and a great move for me. My ambition is to work with our network markets to create bold ideas that penetrate the local culture, and then help them execute them with simplicity and clarity,” added Mr Schouest.
