Ahead of the French Open, new data released by content discovery platform Outbrain highlights that Britain’s Andy Murray is by far the most popular ATP Tour tennis player this year with online audiences. In Singapore alone, netizens have indicated the most interest in Croatia’s Marin Cilic.
The data highlights that:
• Andy Murray leads the world’s top ten tennis players for online audiences. Murray also overwhelmingly leads the way in the UK.
• The second most popular tennis player overall for online audiences was Novak Djokovic.
• Murray scored more page views in Spain, ahead of home favourite Rafael Nadal.
• Thomas Berdych attracts the second most page views per story, after Murray.
Czech Republic’s Thomas Berdych ranks very highly for page views when compared to the number of stories about him. This is a reflection on how well he has performed in the early stages of 2015, despite not being hugely renowned outside of the tennis world, explains Outbrain.
