With the growth in online TV’s popularity, consumer habits have changed in content consumption. However, despite the shift in consumer habits, the importance of traditional TV sets still stands even among those who have online TV subscriptions.
The latest statistics from GlobalWebIndex show that not only are three in four online TV subscribers paying for cable/satellite TV packages, these consumers are also 33 per cent more likely than average to be doing so – suggesting it’s not right to simply assume that linear is replacing online TV, rather it’s clear that users appreciate and value both forms of TV.
GWI’s data further shows that across the demographics, there is an expected increase in line with income. By age, 16-24 year-olds are the least likely to be paying for a cable/satellite TV package, as many from this younger age group are still living with their parents.
