In its latest data, GlobalWebIndex highlighted that as the average internet user now owns more than three devices, there is a definite shift in their media consumption habits. While TV still remains the go-to destination for keeping up with sports, 60 per cent of this group are also watching sports online. Of the 39 per cent now consuming sports online, nearly all watch sports on their TV sets too.
This can be attributed to improvements in connectivity and device hardware, making it easier for consumers to watch sports entertainment throughout the day, depending on where they are. GWI also found that mobiles are now the top device for watching sports online globally, and by some distance in APAC.
