Facebook reports USD 7.87 billion revenue for 2013; reaches 757 million users

“It was a great end to the year for Facebook,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Founder and CEO of Facebook, that has recorded USD 7.87 billion as its 2013 revenues. The company has also reached 757 million users; mobile daily users are at 556 million. Mobile can in fact be credited significantly in FB registering one of its best growth years.

The advertising revenue from the social giant have reached USD 2.34 billion, which is a marked 76 per cent increase from the same quarter last year. Of this, mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 53 per cent of advertising revenue for the fourth quarter of 2013, up from 23 per cent of advertising revenue in the fourth quarter of 2012.

In its recently released financial report, Facebook stated that the full year revenue of USD 7.87 billion is an increase of 55 per cent on a year-over-year basis. The revenue for the fourth quarter totalled USD 2.59 billion, which an increase of 63 per cent, compared with USD 1.59 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012.

As FB hits daily active users (DAUs) of 757 million, the number not only implies an increase of 22 per cent year-on-year growth for FB users but the more interesting statistic is that the mobile daily users of the platform have grown 49 per cent on a yearly basis to reach 556 million on average for December 2013.

The monthly active users for the company are 1.23 billion as of December 31, 2013, which is an increase of 16 per cent year-over-year. Mobile monthly active users are at 945 million, marking an increase of 39 per cent year-over-year.

“We’re looking forward to our next decade and to helping connect the rest of the world,” said Mr Zuckerberg. The statement was also a reminder of Facebook’s ambition with Internet.org to create the next five billion internet users.
