The South China Morning Post (SCMP), the Asian digital media company, has appointed Ian Hocking to the position of Digital Director of Advertising. SCMP is utilising a digital-first strategy as it grows from a regional newspaper into a global media organisation.
As SCMP’s audience grows internationally, advertising clients can maximise the influence of their brand to an expanded market, putting SCMP in a better position to meet advertisers’ needs. Mr Hocking’s hiring leverages SCMP’s digital capabilities, and provides advertising clients, which are increasingly global in reach, with strategic opportunities to promote their content on SCMP’s advanced platforms.
In this role, Mr Hocking will provide strategic direction and leadership to deliver diversified and sustainable revenue across all SCMP digital platforms. Additionally, he will be responsible for the company’s digital agenda both internationally and in Hong Kong. Mr Hocking will set a foundation for success at SCMP by ensuring digital operations deliver the highest quality experience, real business outcomes and market leading insights for SCMP’s marketing partners.
Mr Hocking was previously Head of Programmatic and Data at NewsUK, a division of News Corp, which publishes The Sun and The Times of London , where he successfully led adtech and strategic partnerships, building their capabilities and reputation to an internationally renowned standard. Before joining NewsUK, Mr Hocking was the Head of Agency Sales and Programmatic for ebay.co.uk .
