#sowhoknew: Apple watch revealed in under 2 minutes

Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a few hours ago the final specifications for the super-anticipated iWatch. Read your 2-minute cheat sheet below:

Launch date? April 24, 2015
Pre-order from iTunes? April 10, 2015
Cost? USD 17,000. That caught your attention didn’t it?

Actually that is for the most expensive ‘Edition’ version. Prices start at USD 249 for the sport variant, USD 549 for the standard Stainless Steel model and USD 10,000 for the entry level (yes there is such a thing) ‘Edition’.

Operating system? iOS 8.2, which is already available to download now (and I already have). It automatically provides you with your Apple Watch app which gives details on how to pair the watch to your iPhone (via a nifty QR code style interface), how to pre-order and some swish looking videos.

Battery life? 18 hours (under normal use).
How long to charge? 2.5 hours via a docking system similar to the MacBook.

Available in nine markets initially – Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, UK and US.

What apps dApple3oes it work with? You can order a cab via Uber, you can open your hotel door at selected SPG hotels, pay for goods using Apple Pay and even buy a Coke from specially equipped vending machines…

As Mr Cook said at the launch event at Yerba Buena Centre in California: “This is the most personal device we have ever created. It’s not just with you, it’s on you.”
