The Economist CEO Andrew Rashbass heads to Thomson Reuters

After a stint of 15 years with The Economist Group, Andrew Rashbass is heading to Thomson Reuters to lead its news and media business.

During his stint with The Economist Group, Rashbass has donned a number of roles including managing director of Economist.com and publisher of The Economist. He has been group chief executive since 2008.

He will be joining Thomson Reuters in the summer in the newly established role of chief Executive, Reuters, and will be based in London. Reuters’ President & Editor-in-Chief, J Adler, will be reporting to Rashbass.

In an official release from Thomnson Reuters, the Group’s CEO, James C Smith, was quoted as saying, “Andrew’s track record as CEO of The Economist Group speaks for itself. He brings to us a rare blend of commercial acumen, sensitivity to the best traditions of quality journalism and editorial integrity. And has a proven ability to build and lead great global business teams.”

Sharing his excitement on joining Reuters, Rashbass said in the release, “I am excited to be joining Reuters with its unmatched commitment to reporting with speed, accuracy, integrity and independence. As well as being, or in fact because they are, essential to Reuters journalism, these characteristics can also drive huge commercial success.”
