To grow the digital services business across China, and manage existing clients ZenithOptimedia has pulled in MindShare’s digital head for China Pete Wong to join as the managing director, head of digital China. he joined the company in February this year. Wong has an extensive experience in developing online presence and internet marketing. In the past 10 years Wong has been an entrepreneur who successfully launched three internet start-ups.
On Wong’s appointment, Steven Chang, CEO of ZenithOptimedia Greater China, said, “I’m so impressed by his (Wong’s) various experiences and innovation spirits. I believe that he’ll bring us insight in user experience and online customer behavior, and make Digital team more energetic.” Digital is a key brand for ZenithOptimedia in China. This business handles a number of key clients such as L’oreal, PUMA, LVMH, Lexus, Reckitt Benckiser, Red Bull, Mengniu etc.
This is what Wong has been brought into handle, and tap into new business opportunities since he as a pioneer in China ecommerce and online marketing as head of Internet marketing for Eachnet. In fact in his job role in eBay China Wong managed an annual $30 million online advertising budget, the largest in China at that time. Prior to that, he was GM for Dell.com China in charge of all of Dell’s consumer online business. More recently, Wong had achieved 100% growth in digital revenue within one year when he served a global 4A media agency as managing director.
Reacting to his new job, Wong said, “I am very excited to join ZenithOptimedia and help lead our digital growth. Digital is the future and it will be an important channel for our clients continued investment. I believe ZenthiOptimedia will be a great platform for me to build on my years of experiences. I am confident that we will deliver great digital solutions to our clients as well as continue to grow a strong digital client service team.” Besides managing clients Wong will also be responsible for streamlining the digital solutions including advanced survey tools, systems and resources partnership.
