#sowhoknew: Smatches or Watchputers?

Why is the new Google or Motorola smartwatch called the 360? Surely not just because its round? Hmm… Well, apparently that is the reason why. Seriously, is that the best name they could come up with?

Anyway even if the name is crap, it looks like a pretty neat piece of kit. And it needs to be to revive the Motorola name and reputation.

To date, most supposed smartphones haven’t been that, er, smart. But this one seems to be. Smart that is.

Motorola have kept the overall shape and look of a traditional watch, with a circular face and just one mechanical button. The ‘android wear’ based device offers the Google Now assistant app and can alert the wearer when e-mails, calls and social updates are made.

Oh, and it tells the time too.

This will be the first of many variants with Google launching more smart watches through the likes of Asus, LG, HTC and Samsung before the end of the year.

I just hope they have better names than the 360.

And what are we going to call this new genre? Smart watches is just plain dull. What about Smatches? Or Watchputers?

OK, I admit it. This naming thing is actually quite difficult. My attempts are pretty lame. There you go, I’ve said it. So have you got any better ideas?
